Testimonials

"Our family was impressed with Mr. McCracken's ability to appraise so many different kinds of things. His network of experts is most impressive. And we appreciated the appraisal getting done on time. We were also impressed with Charles's sensitivity as we worked through the complex process of settling my parent's estate. We have already recommended him to others in our neighborhood."
L.B.H - estate executrix

"Working with Mr. McCracken has been great. His insights were critical in organizing and valuing my extensive collection of oil paintings and rare architectural books."
M.T. - professional architect and art collector

"When I was told to get my belongings appraised for insurance coverage, I was not sure where to begin. After a short meeting with Dr. McCracken, we had a plan and everything was completed right on time. I would certainly recommend him to others seeking an appraisal."
L.R. - residential home owner

Welcome to my website

I look forward to providing the appraisal services you need. To introduce myself, I am presenting on this site my credentials, answers to questions I am frequently asked, and contact information. There are also references and testimonials from clients and colleagues.

To review my interests and credentials you are invited to download my Appraiser's Profile. In response to increased pressures from governmental agencies, financial institutions and the judicial system appraisers today must present a resume that specifies why they are qualified to provide appraisal services. They must also state their training that allows them to write expert appraisals which can withstand the scrutiny of certifying appraiser associations and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

Teaching and scholarship are an important part of an appraiser's world. With this in mind, I invite you to review two projects that started out as appraisals but concluded as full length published books. The first is a biography of the important American modern artist, Seymour Fogel (1911 - 1984). The second is a history of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, during the Civil War. My essay Writing Beyond the Numbers: Why Appraisers Publish is included in the inaugural issue of the Journal of Advanced Appraisal Studies.

Please feel free to write, telephone or email me at your convenience. Again, thank you for visiting my web site. I look forward to working with you.

Charles McCracken
